The Minneapolis Public Housing Agency (MPHA) is the largest public housing agency in the State of Minnesota, and the 25th largest in the country. MPHA's core business function is providing housing by managing and maintaining nearly 5,800 public housing rental units that it owns and operates.

The Minneapolis Public Housing Authority had no web-presence to speak of, and this limited public access to vital housing information to the business hours of MPHA. Since many of those who utilize the MPHA's programs and services are working during the day, MPHA wanted an all-encompassing site that could display large amounts of information in a manner that was easy to access and clearly stated.

Launched in the Spring of 2001, the MPHA website utilizes the best of Pillar Applications Group, Inc. content management to create a site that can be easily maintained internally. MPHA hosts the site, and is responsible for all changes to content. The solution is ASP based on an Oracle database.

MPHA went from having no viable web-presence to having the most extensive web site in the Public Housing sector. All the information that used to be available only by stopping in person to the office is now available online for the public to view at any time. Potential residents can download forms, check on the latest news, and keep abreast of new developments.

Since the launch in the Spring of 2001, public feedback has been outstanding. Thousands of people have already used the site to learn more about the MPHA. The intranet has proven to be a valuable internal resource for sending information, and the easy maintenance means new information can be posted immediately.
